The 40-Day Yoga Challenge - This session begins on January 9th, 2012 and involves yoga classes Monday to Friday evenings 7:30 to 8:30 pm for 6-weeks. Emphasis is on strength and mobility and is quite challenging. However, everyone is encouraged to go at their own pace and take breaks when needed. The whole package is $150 for 30 classes, or $5 per class if attending less than 5-days per week. New students are always welcome, even mid session.
Yoga Conditioning Program - Will begin on March 6th, 2012 and the emphasis is on strength. This program creates long, lean, strong muscles. We work on mobility as well for health of the joints and injury prevention. The session is two nights a week (Tuesday and Thursday 7:30 to 8:30 pm) and can be combined with the Yoga Stretch Program for best results.
Yoga Stretch Program - Also begins on March 7th, 2012 and the emphasis is on flexibility. This program is designed for those looking to achieve full splits, and oversplits if desired. Back flexibility is also a main component, which aids in leg extensions to the back. The session is two nights a week (Wednesday and Friday 7:30 to 8:30) and can be combined with the Yoga Conditioning Program for best results.

INJURY PREVENTION
This is probably the most important benefit. A dancer who experiences fewer injuries has an advantage over his or her competition. Injuries decrease training time, lower fitness level, and can lead to long-term health problems. In addition, some injuries never fully repair.

Yoga can help prevent injuries on a few different levels:
First, yoga increases flexibility of muscles. If a dancer is flexible, then there is less chance of pulling a muscle.
Second, yoga increases flexibility of joints. In dancers, the hips are required to be very flexible to achieve “turn out”. When the hips are tight, the knees and ankles often try to compensate. This is especially true for jumps where there is some impact upon landing. The joints work like shock absorbers for the body. When all of the joints are mobile, the impact is distributed evenly among them and is much safer.
Third, yoga strengthens the muscles around the joints. When they are strong, the bones are supported and are able to move as they were meant to, as opposed to jarring together with increased impact.
Fourth, yoga corrects muscular imbalances. Most people are not completely symmetrical in strength and flexibility. This imbalance makes one prone to injury.
BREATHING AWARENESS
Breathing is a powerful tool and can be used to harness energy and execute movement. Yogic breathing, in particular, is used to warm up the body and increase oxygen to the muscles. Properly oxygenated muscles perform at a higher capacity.
MENTAL CLARITY
Yoga teaches us how to clear the mind from distraction, and this ability is extremely beneficial waiting in the wings before a competition. The ability to calm nerves is invaluable.
OVERALL HEALTH
Each yoga pose is designed to maintain health in the body. The aesthetic benefits are just a bonus. Some poses are specifically for toning and shaping the body, while others work on detoxifying internal organs, while others still target the lymphatic, glandular, and immune systems. In addition, yoga has poses in which the head is lower than the heart. This increases blood flow and oxygen to the brain. The benefits are numerous and include increased energy, better sleep, and faster reflexes. As a result, the yoga student experiences fewer illnesses and better health overall.
BALANCE
The benefits of having good balance are fairly self-explanatory. The dancer can hold poses for longer and turns become easier. However, yoga also teaches us to not react emotionally to falls. Yoga helps to build self-esteem and its lessons teach us +not to judge ourselves or others.
